From 02.06. limited regular operation in daycare centers

19.05.2020

Agreement between city administration, daycare center working group and city parents' council

From 02.06.2020, daycare centers in Jena will operate on a limited regular basis. This was agreed yesterday by the city administration, the representatives of the daycare working group and the chairpersons of the city parents' council.

This means that all children can return to the daycare centers. In each daycare center, a daily care time of at least 7 hours is guaranteed, for example from 08:00 to 15:00.

With these regulations, we want to guarantee reliable childcare again for all parents of daycare children from 02.06.2020, albeit with limited opening hours,

explained Eberhard Hertzsch, Head of Department for Family, Education and Social Affairs.

Reason for restricted opening hours

The main reason for the restricted opening hours is the framework conditions stipulatedby the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (TMBJS) and the Thuringian Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Women and Family (TMASGFF), which must be adhered to. These include that the children must be cared for in a fixed group with a fixed educator in a fixed room. Mixing the children, as is usually the case in the morning or later in the afternoon, is not permitted.

Depending on the daycare center, there will be different configurations of these framework conditions, depending on spatial and personnel resources. The top priority is strict compliance with the hygiene rules/hygiene concepts.

Entry into restricted regular operation means that the previous emergency care for children of parents with system-relevant professions will no longer apply

The introduction of restricted regular operation means that the previous emergency care for children of parents with system-relevant professions is no longer available. The previous emergency care can only be provided until 29.05.2020 in the form last extended by the state by including pre-school children and their siblings in the previously known manner and during the last usual care hours.

According to the latest state regulation, the restricted regular operation must completely replace the previous emergency care. Privileged treatment of children whose parents work in system-relevant professions is then no longer permitted under the state ordinance.
