15 years of JenaKultur - a story
In times like these, we fear and fight for the continued existence of culture. It is therefore a particular pleasure for us right now to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the most important service provider and basic infrastructure for culture in Jena, the JenaKultur municipal enterprise, at least digitally.
JenaKultur celebrated its 15th birthday in 2020, but there wasn't much to celebrate. Various events, formats and activities were actually planned, but unfortunately, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, these could not take place either. That's why JenaKultur is now celebrating digitally: a new storytelling website has been launched that looks back on the past 15 years, introduces the in-house operation and provides a multi-layered look behind the scenes.
An emotional look at the past, present and future
The new website takes readers on a journey through the history of JenaKultur. Structured chronologically, it explains in a modern way the ideas and background that led to the founding of the company. Together, we look back on major, one-off projects such as the "City of Science" in 2008, but the sustainable projects and successes are also highlighted. The anniversary website also highlights the diversity of the Eigenbetrieb and shows how many facilities, offers, ideas and - sometimes overlooked - tasks are behind the JenaKultur label.
But of course it's not just about projects and facilities, but above all about the people behind them. Numerous personal video interviews with various employees ensure that the in-house operation becomes even more transparent and approachable. Actors from the cityscape also have their say, describing their very personal memories, explaining decisions and looking back on the past 15 years.
Of course, there will also be an outlook into the future - for example, on upcoming milestones of the municipal enterprise, such as the new construction of the Ernst Abbe Library Jena or the conversion of the Volkshaus Jena into a modern culture and congress center.
JenaKultur invites all interested parties to join us on this digital journey from 2005 to the future and looks forward to celebrating the anniversary with you - join us on 15 years of JenaKultur.
JenaKultur would like to thank everyone involved - first and foremost the JenaKultur employees who have contributed, the editorial director Michael Dissmeier and the city's IT department (KIJ and Team Kommunikation) - for making this project a success.
