The memory of the victims of the NSU will also be kept alive in Jena this year. Traditionally, this takes place in Jena on the anniversary of the death of Enver Şimşek, who was murdered by the NSU in 2000.
In the following years, nine other people were murdered, who will also be commemorated.

The public memorial event to mark the 23rd anniversary of Enver Şimşek's death will take place
on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 12:00 noon
at the memorial plaque for Enver Şimşek
at Enver-Şimşek-Platz in Jena-Winzerla.

Mayor Thomas Nitzsche will speak words of remembrance.
