Motto: Climate protection now. With us.

Together with Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck, the city of Jena is awarding the third Children & Youth Environmental Prize for 2020. Under the motto "Climate protection now. With us.", this time climate protection projects in Jena are being sought.

Periods of heat and drought, heavy rainfall, rising sea levels, melting glaciers - the consequences of global warming can already be observed today.

Goal: limit global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius

At the 2015 climate conference in Paris, the international community decided for the first time to take joint action against climate change. The aim is to limit global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius, or better still to 1.5 degrees, in order to prevent the worst consequences of climate change. This requires considerable reductions in greenhouse gases.

What are Jena's children and young people doing to protect the climate?

Most people are aware that climate protection cannot continue as before. In order to achieve the climate targets, we will all have to make a contribution. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions will be a key task for the future, worldwide, in Germany and also in Jena. The city of Jena has been committed to climate protection and sustainable development for many years. But what can each individual do? What are Jena's children and young people doing to protect the climate? The city administration would like to find out.

Prizes and conditions of participation
