17.04.2020

Corona case numbers

  • Again today: no new person tested positive for corona.
  • Statistics: 155 cases in total, currently 2 cases hospitalized, one of them in intensive care, 3 deaths in total, 117 recovered (+ 10)

Measures to protect against the corona epidemic are initially extended

The city of Jena extends the previously valid general decree until 26.04.2020. So far, there is no ordinance from the state that regulates the announced openings and relaxations for Thuringia.

New general decree will be harmonized with the state ordinance

It is therefore not possible for the city of Jena to issue a general decree in line with the new Thuringian ordinance within the deadline. To avoid creating a legal vacuum, the city has decided to extend the previous measures by one week. A further general decree will be issued in the course of next week to determine and, if necessary, adjust the relaxations and openings for Jena specified by the state.

Stores can also open in Jena from Friday, 24.04.

The city of Jena will join the opening of stores from 24.04. as announced in a press release from the State Chancellery.

Obligation to cover mouth and nose

The obligation to cover mouth and nose applies: on public transport, in stores and shopping markets, when providing and using services and now also when entering covered circulation areas of shopping centers (e.g.: Goethe Galerie, Neue Mitte, Burgaupark) and at weekly markets.

Only 1 person per 20 square meters

In stores and sales outlets as well as in craft businesses, only one person per 20 square meters of store space may be granted access.

Furthermore, a 7-day entry ban applies to persons who have corona symptoms (see also coronavirus) or have shown symptoms in the last 7 days, as well as immediate home quarantine for returnees from abroad.

The general decree, which comes into force on Sunday, refers to the previous Thuringian ordinances and their updates.

Cycle path to Lobeda fully accessible again at the weekend and from next Friday

The cycle path from the city center to Lobeda will be fully accessible again by Friday, 24.04. at the latest. Mayor Christian Gerlitz has been pushing hard for this. The route will also be open this Saturday and Sunday. The remaining work will then be completed by the end of next week. Originally, the cycle path was not due to be open again until the end of May.

The prescribed signaling technology for crossing the streetcar tracks cannot be delivered until the end of May. Until then, a temporary solution will have to be used - cyclists will be forced to slow down by blocking the path and streetcars will have to reduce their speed. This has been agreed between the Federal Railway Authority, the city and the construction company.
