Aid deliveries from Jena and Erlangen on their way to Ukraine
An aid transport to Ukraine departed from Jena today. It combines relief supplies from Jena and Erlangen.Kontinent Spedition Jena is donating the transport.
With the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, it was possible to finance the aid packages and procure the technical equipment. The goods will benefit the Ukrainian towns of Bila Zerkwa and Brovary. Jena and Erlangen are seeking to establish a town twinning with the latter. As in Brovary, Ukrainian municipalities are faced with the task of ensuring supplies for their inhabitants and tens of thousands of internally displaced persons. The donations are intended to help with this.
In detail, the following will be delivered
- 5 diesel generators for power generation (financed by GIZ) for the town of Bila Zerkwa
- 5 diesel generators for power generation (financed by GIZ) for the town of Brovary
- 1 Euro pallet with candles (donated by the city of Erlangen) for the city of Brovary
- 1 Euro pallet with relief supplies (laptops, toys - donated by the city of Erlangen) for the city of Brovary
- 1 powerful fan heater (donation from Kassablanca e.V.) for the city of Brovary
This delivery is the first of more planned. The donations, which are currently being collected in Jena and Erlangen, will be used to expand support for the people of Brovary. Jena's Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche is particularly pleased about the combined efforts of both twin towns, which are making the aid shipments possible. This expresses the great solidarity that the Ukrainian people can continue to count on.
