Airborne extinguishing exercise by the Jena fire department a complete success
On Friday, a joint exercise was carried out by the Jena fire department and the Thuringian police helicopter squadron. Water was taken from the Schleichersee lake into a special container and released over defined forest areas.
The crew also practiced filling large containers and drawing water from them. The wind from the rotors meant that the pilot had to be particularly skillful.
In addition to 30 members of the Jena fire department, observers from the state administration office, the Jena city forestry department and the local police were also present.
Only a few points had to be questioned during the maneuver critique - all in all, the participants were very satisfied with the large-scale exercise.
