Around 200 kilograms of corks collected
This year's collection campaign at the recycling center in Jena-Nord collected an impressive 200 kilograms of corks. Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) has now handed over the 20 boxes of this important natural material to Naturschutzjugend Jena (NAJU).
A project with added value
Through the collection campaign, the corks are reused in a meaningful way and make an active contribution to the protection of natural resources. The NAJU uses the material in environmental education projects and creative activities, among other things, to raise awareness of recycling and resource conservation.
20,000 bottle caps collected since 2022
The amount collected has once again increased significantly compared to the previous year 2023, when 140 kilograms were collected. Around 500 kilograms of cork material has already been collected since the campaign began in 2022 - the equivalent of more than 20,000 bottle caps.
The collection campaign continues
The cork collection campaign will also continue in 2025. All interested parties are cordially invited to throw their corks into the brown collection garbage can provided for this purpose during the opening hours of the Recycling Center North. The KSJ would like to thank all supporters and looks forward to many more contributions to this sustainable project.
