Autumn program on the 30th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution
"89//19: Breaking away - upheaval - awakening. Jena and the revolution(s) of 1989" - under this motto, Jena initiatives from the cultural, church, university and civil society sectors are organizing a programme of events in autumn and winter 2019.
Eleven events will take place from September 29 to December 18 to commemorate the social and political upheavals of 1989/90 in the GDR and the former Eastern Bloc.
Through panel discussions, film screenings, concerts and a performance, the organizers want to stimulate discussion about the transformation processes of 1989/90 and their effects up to the present day.
The program is organized by JenaKultur, the Evangelical-Lutheran Church District of Jena, the Thuringian Archive for Contemporary History "Matthias Domaschk", the Geschichtswerkstatt Jena e. V., the Freie Bühne Jena e. V., the Seminar for Folklore/Cultural History and the Institute for Romance Studies at Friedrich Schiller University.
