BolzplatzCup Jena 2024 - With an expanded social component

The BolzplatzCup Jena is taking place for the third time in a row this year, this time with a significant addition: in addition to the soccer tournaments on the football pitches in the city districts, the Cup will be accompanied by a new exhibition. The exhibition, entitled "More than a game - when footballers take a stand", was created in collaboration with KoKont and features international footballers who have been socially committed in the past or present.

Teenagers and young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 are invited to take part in the cup. They do not have to live in Jena. As the rules are determined in the groups, the idea of fair play is particularly important to the project.

Supporting program and highlights

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, a special film screening will take place at the Schillerhof in Jena East: "Rebels on the Ball", which served as the basis for the exhibition, will be shown. Afterwards, sports journalist Ronny Blaschke will pick up on elements of the film in a dialogical lecture. The final groups for the grand final on August 30 will also be drawn that evening. The café in the Schillerhof will be open, and young people will have the opportunity to receive free admission via vouchers issued in advance.

Tournament dates and registration options

The preliminary rounds of the BolzplatzCup 2024 will take place on the following dates and locations, each starting at 16:00:

• 13.08. Winzerla (football pitch on the corner of Hugo-Schrade-Straße)
• 15.08. Jena Ost (football pitch at the pedestrian tunnel near Eastside)
• 20.08. Lobeda Ost (football pitch at Salvador-Allende-Platz)
• 22.08. Jena North (football pitch at Polaris / Montessori School)

The grand final will be held on August 30, 2024 in Lobeda West (KuBuS / JZ Westside). In addition to exciting soccer matches, visitors can expect a supporting program with entertainment and food.

More than 100 enthusiasts played for the cup in 2023. This year, the young people took on even more organizational tasks than in previous years.

Main prize and supporters

The winning team of the BolzplatzCup wins a trip to a home game of FC Bayern Munich as well as the coveted challenge cup. Other prizes include vouchers for FC Carl Zeiss Jena, Medipolis SC Jena, the Schillerhof and the GalaxSea Jena. The project is organized by KoKont and Streetwork Lobeda in cooperation with Fanprojekt Jena. It is supported by the Local Partnership for Democracy and FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
