Carol singers bless the town hall
Four young carol singers from the Catholic parish of Jena visited Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche in the town hall today. The boys and girls sang for the Lord Mayor and recited verses to the accompaniment of guitar playing by parishioner Dr. Lars-Peter Bräutigam.
Under the motto "Together for our earth - in Amazonia and worldwide", they asked for a donation. The money will be used to support various planting projects aimed at preserving the livelihoods of indigenous peoples in deforested areas in the Amazon.
The carol singers then blessed the building by placing a sticker with the inscription "C+M+B - Christus mansionem benedicat - Christ bless this house" above the door. A total of ten groups of carol singers were out and about in Jena this year.
