Emergency paramedics complete their training for the first time
The fire department is a good example of how years of promoting young talent pay off. Thanks to continuous training, well-supervised deployment and the promotion of targeted advancement, the generational change in the professional fire department has been well accompanied. This year, two trainees are completing their three-year training as emergency paramedics for the first time. They will be working for the fire department in the coming months before starting their training in the middle fire department in spring 2020.
This year's graduates include two people who completed an internship abroad as part of their training. They spent the three-week guest internship in Scotland and Malta, where they were able to gain intercultural experience and further develop their language skills.
Securing young talent through training
Jena City Council and its four municipal enterprises are aware of the high demand for qualified specialists and managers, especially from 2023 onwards. We are increasingly focusing on securing young talent in-house through training. In cooperation with its own companies, the city administration offers a wide range of different apprenticeships. From gardener to administrative assistant, IT specialist, fire officer trainee to event technology specialist. In addition, dual courses of study are also offered in the fields of "Management for public institutions" and "Practical computer science".
