Charity Concert Raises 1,700 Euros for Rehabilitation Center in Brovary

23.06.2026

The Otto Schott Choir and the Jena Madrigal Circle hosted a benefit concert at the Friedenkirche to support Jena’s Ukrainian sister city, Brovary. The event raised 1,700 euros. Since the choirs are covering the concert costs, the donations will go entirely to a rehabilitation center in Brovary to strengthen care for local residents affected by the war. The rehabilitation center provides the residents of Brovary—and war veterans in particular—with comprehensive services in the areas of sports, exercise, and health promotion. The donations will help fund additional equipment and projects to meet the ever-growing needs.

Both choirs performed excerpts from their current programs. The Jena Madrigal Circle, conducted by Berit Walther, performed “Fire and Water” with works by Distler, Lauridsen, and Mäntyjärvi, while the Otto-Schott Choir, conducted by Christian Herrmann, presented“Gedankenspiele” (Mind Games) featuring works by Purcell, Shaw, and Collier. The audience rewarded the entertaining concert—which spanned classical choral repertoire and modern pop arrangements—with thunderous applause and generous donations. The Jena Madrigal Circle and the Otto Schott Choir would like to thank the generous audience and all their supporters.
