Children's artworks on the subject of mobility in the Damenviertel

15.09.2023

The works of young artists can now be seen in the Damenviertel. The children have put their ideas on paper under the motto "Clear the way, mashed potatoes! - Child-friendly mobility for all of us!", the children put their ideas on paper for a painting competition organized by the Democratic Youth Ring. Some of the submissions can now be seen on posters, whetting the appetite for the European Mobility Week action day on Sunday, 17.09.2023, in the Damenviertel district.

"The children have put a lot of thought into the topic of mobility while creatively painting and designing their pictures. It's great that their ideas and works of art now have another opportunity to be presented in the Damenviertel alongside the exhibition on World Children's Day. This fully honors their creative work," says Justus Hasler from the Democratic Youth Ring.

Day of action on Sunday, 17.09.2023, in the Damenviertel district

During the day of action, part of Sophienstraße and an adjacent part of St.-Jakob-Straße will be car-free from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to make room for numerous activities related to the topic of mobility. "On this day and during the entire European Mobility Week, we want to show that mobility is also a matter of the mind. This is not about abolishing cars or setting up fronts between motorists and cyclists. Like the children who drew these pictures, we want to make people think. What can streets look like? What space do they offer? The day of action is intended to get people talking and have fun," emphasizes Mayor and Head of Department Christian Gerlitz.
