Children's ideas and wishes for new playground wanted!

06.05.2021

The first rays of sunshine in spring show just how important playgrounds are. There are 65 playgrounds throughout the city and they are used intensively.

The city is currently growing with new development areas, especially in the north, and therefore a new playground is being built on Michael-Häußler-Weg as part of the "Wohngebiet beim Mönchenberge" development plan - near the Zwätzen estate.

Planning is underway

When it comes to public, municipal playgrounds, there has been an established cooperation between the urban planning department in Department 3, the integrated social planning department and the youth and education department in Department 4 as well as the playgrounds team at KSJ for years. Children are always asked what they like and what they would like to see during the planning process, whether for new builds or redesigns.

What should their playground look like? What play equipment do they want? Do they need benches for the parents? The children can record all of this on the drawing templates (A3 format). They can draw, stick on pictures or even write. In addition to the coloring template, there is also a letter especially for the children with all the important information.

There are 310 children aged 6 to 12 living in Zwätzen and 45 children in Löbstedt (as at 31.12.2020).

Two-stage participation process planned

Ideas and wishes can be submitted digitally or by post until 28.05.2021. The contact details are below. A photo of the artwork is sufficient for submission by email. The attachment must not be larger than 10MB. For postal submissions, it is also possible to fold the artwork.

At the end of the feedback period, the ideas and wishes will be evaluated and discussed with the responsible planning office. Three drafts will then be developed on the basis of the feedback, the legal requirements and the financial possibilities. Next, the children will be asked to decide on their preferred option. Construction of the playground is then set to begin in 2022.
