Citizen services close for the move
Computers, telephones, files, materials - everything that the 80 or so employees of the Citizens' Services department need in their day-to-day work is currently moving from Löbdergraben 12 to the new building at Engelplatz 1. The Citizens' Service will therefore be closed from Monday to Wednesday - at least no regular appointments can be offered.
Emergency team on duty on the closing days
"We have decided not to close completely," says Head of Specialist Services Olaf Schroth. Emergencies can always occur - and the teams want to be prepared for them. An emergency team will therefore be on duty at Löbdergraben 12 from Monday to Wednesday to deal with acute, non-postponable inquiries relating to the entire specialist service. On Wednesdays, a team will also be on standby at Engelplatz 1. Contact persons can be reached on all three closing days on the central numbers 490 and 493714.
Soft start at the new location from Thursday
On Thursday, March 21, operations will start in the new building. During the first two days, the team will offer slightly fewer appointments than usual in order to be able to make any necessary adjustments. "We ask for your understanding if everything doesn't work perfectly straight away," says Schroth. From Monday, March 25, as many appointments as usual will be available again for citizens. The first open Saturday in the new building is April 6.
Collecting identity documents
Anyone who has already applied for identity documents can collect them from the old location at Löbdergraben 12 without an appointment until Wednesday, March 20, at 1 pm. These documents will then also be moved and will be issued at the new location from Thursday, March 21. This applies to identity cards as well as passports and driving licenses.
Lost and found office with extended opening hours after the move
The lost and found office is also moving and will therefore be closed from Monday to Wednesday. At the new location, the team will offer significantly extended opening hours: Monday and Friday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, Tuesday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, Wednesday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Teams that are not moving or moving later
The registry office team will remain in the historic town hall. The Citizenship Office team will remain at Löbdergraben 12 until September 2024 and will then also move to the new building. The Immigration and Residence Department will continue to work at the old location.
