Citizens' budget in Jena: proposals can now be submitted
This year, the full 100,000 euros are once again available for ideas from Jena residents. No more than 10,000 euros may be spent per proposal. The deadline for submitting ideas for the citizens' budget is 31.08.2021.
"Ideas for improvements in our city can now be submitted for two whole months. All people who want to help shape Jena are cordially invited to do so. Once again, I hope to receive many different proposals and, as the total amount available is now full, they can be larger than last year," says Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Urban Development and Environment.
For a proposal to be valid and voted on by the residents of Jena in the fall, it must meet further requirements in addition to the upper limit of 10,000 euros. For example, it must serve the general public and the improvement must either be located in a public space or in publicly accessible areas or be accessible to the general public free of charge. All requirements as well as examples of what these can be in concrete terms and the opportunity to submit proposals can be found on the city of Jena's participation portal at beteiligung.jena.de.
The central coordination for citizen participation will check the validity of the proposals. If a proposal is invalid, the coordination office will publish a justification in the participation portal for all to see. It will also provide advice to all interested parties and those submitting proposals.
