Citizens' energy meeting on 14.11.2024 on the current status of wind power and photovoltaic projects
What is the status of BürgerEnergie Jena's wind power project and the large open-space photovoltaic plant? This will be the topic of the next BürgerEnergie meeting on Thursday, 14.11.2024, from 19:30 in the plenary hall of the historic town hall. The city of Jena and BürgerEnergie Jena eG cordially invite all interested parties to find out about the progress of these forward-looking projects. Admission is free, registration is not required.
Current status: open-space photovoltaic plant and wind power project
Sonja Gonschorek, board member of BürgerEnergie Jena eG, will present the current plans for renewable energies. Plans include a 5 MW ground-mounted photovoltaic plant. The wind power project that BürgerEnergie Jena has been pursuing since 2018 is also making great strides towards realization. For these two major projects, BürgerEnergie Jena eG is cooperating with BürgerEnergie Saale-Holzland eG and Energiegenossenschaft Ilmtal eG based in Weimar.
Presentation of initial results on rooftop PV systems
Another topic of the BürgerEnergie meeting is the plan to generate electricity from solar energy on Jena's roofs. Rooftop photovoltaic systems with an output of up to 100 kilowatts are planned. BürgerStrom Jena GmbH has examined various options in cooperation with the Thüringer Aufbaubank. The initial results will be presented at the meeting.
Background: Foundation of BürgerStrom Jena GmbH
At the end of 2023, BürgerEnergie Jena eG founded BürgerStrom Jena GmbH as a wholly owned subsidiary. Until now, the cooperative has only been indirectly involved in renewable energies (RE) through investments in other Thuringian citizen energy cooperatives and in Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck GmbH. In future, this commitment will be continued through direct investments and the operation of its own renewable energy plants - a task that is easier to manage in an outsourced company.
