City council resolutions are implemented as a matter of course

01.04.2021

A report in a local Jena newspaper on April 1 gives the impression that the city administration is deliberately not implementing resolutions passed by the city council. This is an untruthful insinuation.

The plan adopted on January 28 to strengthen local transport in Himmelreich is currently a valid resolution, despite legal doubts that cannot be dispelled with certainty. However, the timing of the decision in direct anticipation of the Jena Local Transport Plan 2021-2026 for the entire city was repeatedly described by the administration as technically unjustifiable. This was also communicated and discussed in various committees following the city council's decision. Such a balanced overall decision, which takes into account the needs of all local transport users and does not just enable improvements for a single district, is to be presented to the city council and adopted before the 2021 summer break.

However, if there are delays in the decision-making process and it cannot come into force before July 1, it is also possible to introduce a line to Himmelreich at short notice. This was confirmed to the city administration by the state administration office in March.
