CITY CYCLING 2021 - Jena takes part for the 10th time
The CITY CYCLING competition is being held again this year. For 21 days, people will be pedaling hard for more cycling promotion, climate protection and quality of life in Jena. Anyone with a bicycle can register to cycle as many kilometers as possible between 9 and 29 September without emitting CO2. The campaign is initiated by the Climate Alliance. It is supported by the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture and the Thuringian Bicycle-Friendly Municipalities Working Group.
Jena is participating for the 10th time. In 2012, cycling commissioner Ulrike Zimmermann first called on the city of Jena to take part in the competition. Over the years, more and more teams have entered the city cycling dates in their calendars and diligently collected kilometers. The routes are entered into the web portal or tracked via the app.
Every year, the campaign starts with a joint outing. This time it's off to the oil mill in Thalbürgel on Thursday, 09.09.2021. Drinks and real Bürgel ice cream will be provided on site. Meeting point is Anger 15 (town hall), start at 5.00 pm. Please register here via jena@stadtradeln.de.
A fundraising campaign has accompanied city cycling since 2019. The aim is to equip all integrative daycare centers with a children's rickshaw. This would make it easier for all children to explore the outdoor area. Seven daycare centers have already received such vehicles with donations from previous years. Donations are now being requested for the 3 remaining facilities.
Information on registration and the donation account can be found at stadtradeln.de/jena.
