City of Jena distributes free carrot booklets

27.08.2025

Primary school pupils in Jena will once again receive the sustainable Möhrchen homework booklet in the 2025/2026 school year. A total of 2,120 booklets were distributed to participating schools in the city.

This year, the Möhrchen booklet focuses on the topics of climate and energy. In addition to plenty of space for homework, the children will find numerous tips on saving electricity, information on the difference between weather and climate and practical suggestions for a climate-friendly journey to school.

Dirk Lange, Head of the Department for Urban Development and the Environment, emphasizes: "We are delighted that we can continue to provide primary school pupils in Jena with this sustainable and lovingly designed homework booklet. It is important to us to raise awareness of ecologically responsible and sustainable action among young people in particular and to integrate it into everyday local life. In addition, the project fits in perfectly with the city of Jena's sustainability strategy and starts exactly where education and practical action come together."

The carrot booklets have been developed since 2014 on the initiative of the cities of Erfurt, Jena and Weimar and have been actively integrated into lessons by many schools.
