City of Jena is looking for honorary judges for the Gera Administrative Court

29.01.2025

The honorary judges for the administrative courts are elected every five years. The next election will take place in 2025. Interested parties are therefore invited to apply for this challenging honorary position at the City of Jena's Legal Department from now until April 21, 2025. No previous legal knowledge is required.

The administrative court is responsible for all matters in which citizens appeal against administrative decisions. Honorary administrative judges take part in the oral hearing and the decision making process with the same rights as full-time judges. This responsible office requires a high degree of impartiality, independence, but also mental and - due to the strenuous nature of the hearings - physical fitness. Legal knowledge is not required.

We are looking for a total of 20 women and men with German citizenship who have their main residence in Jena and have reached the age of 25. In addition, applicants must not be employed full-time in the public sector.
