The City of Jena Reports Positive Results for the Weather Warning Day

The city of Jena reports positive results from the nationwide Warning Day on September 10, 2026. The various warning systems throughout the city were successfully activated and tested.

The 25 digitally connected sirens located throughout the city were controlled centrally. Both the warning signal and the all-clear signal were activated.

During the test, a technical issue was identified with the siren in Cospeda. The voice announcement could be heard there, but the warning tones themselves were not played. Steps have been taken to resolve the technical issue.

The city’s additional warning and information channels were also utilized on Warning Day. Information was disseminated via jena.de and the city’s social media channels, among other platforms. In addition, the digital displays on the city utilities’ public transit system were incorporated into the effort.

An information desk was set up via JenaZentral to answer questions from the public. No significant inquiries related to the Warning Day were received there.

The Warning Day serves to test existing warning systems under real-world conditions and identify potential technical vulnerabilities. At the same time, it is intended to help ensure that the public is familiar with the various warning signals and can interpret them correctly in an emergency.
