Commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony on the occasion of the popular uprising on June 17, 1953

Jena played an important role in the events surrounding the popular uprising on June 17, 1953. To commemorate the events and to remember the victims, we cordially invite you to the commemorative event on the occasion of the popular uprising in 1953.

• Location: Memorial to the victims of political persecution in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) and in the GDR between 1945 and 1989, Gerbergasse green space

The alternative location to the memorial plaque at the Sparkasse building was chosen in order to have more space for the event. Please wear a medical mask to the event and keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other event participants.
