Construction site report for Jena

Here is the Jena roadworks report for the 41st calendar week (October 10 - 16, 2022). Unless otherwise indicated, cyclists and pedestrians will pass the roadworks.

Completed roadworks:

• Complete closure of Nikolaus-Theiner-Straße 19
• Half-sided closure of Engelplatz

New closure:

Eichplatz

• Last phase of the archaeological investigations by the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology (TLDA) in the northern part of the square
  Closure of approx. 35 parking spaces until 04.12.2022

Existing construction sites:

Construction work at the final stop in Erlanger Allee / Carolinenstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 16.12.2022
• Details: Any timetable changes to the rail replacement service can be found at www.nahverkehr-jena.de/fahrplan.(link is external) A detour for individual traffic is not necessary.

Buchenweg

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Location: House number 34
• Duration: until 12.10.2022
• Reason: Construction site installation for the conversion of the adjacent school
• Details: Waiting is mandatory for vehicles meeting in the carriageway area.

Carolinenstrasse

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 14.10.2022
• Reason: Pavement renovation
• Details: The construction work will be divided into several construction phases so that access for residents/rescue and supply services is guaranteed. A detour will be signposted on site. Pedestrians and cyclists can pass the construction site safely.

Eichplatz (parking lot)

• Type: Partial closure
• Duration: until 04.12.2022
• Reason: Carrying out archaeological investigations in advance of the development of construction site A
• Details: In order to carry out the work professionally, restrictions on the parking lotare unavoidablefor a period of approx. five months. However, high priority will be given to ensuring that as many parking spaces and pathways as possible are maintained during the work. For this reason, the excavations will be carried out in three successive sections, as illustrated in the plan below.

  We would also like to point out that the usual main access to Eichplatz via Kollegiengasse will not be available during this period. However, the directly adjacent temporary access road can be used asan alternative to entering the parking lot .In addition, one of the tworamps leadingfrom the parking lot to the "Neue Mitte" willno longer be available. However, the second ramp is still available without restriction.

  The excavation work will generally be carried out Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4 pm.

Engelplatz

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Duration: until 07.10.2022
• Reason: Laying of medium-voltage cables for the new library
• Details: Traffic will be routed in a one-way system in the direction of Schillerstraße

Erlanger Allee

• Type: Closure of the track bed at the intersection of Platanenstraße
• Duration: until 22.10.2022
• Reason: Work on the tracks
• Details: The emergency room at Lobeda University Hospital can be accessed via the Am Klinikum junction. It is also possible to turn at the Am Klinikum junction to head towards Stadtrodaer Straße. For the time being, the track area at the Kastanienstraße junction is only passable for emergency transports. People on foot can pass the area safely. A detour will be signposted on site.

Forest road

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Location: At house number 35a
• Duration: until 31.12.2022
• Reason: New construction of a residential building

Gerbergasse

• Type: Closure of residents' parking lot
• Start: 25.04.2022
• Reason: Construction site installation
• Details: Alternative residents' parking spaces have been set up in Wiesenstraße from the Am Saaleufer access road. These can be used immediately.

Großschwäbhäuser Straße

• Type: One-way road closure on one side
• Location: between the junction with Bundestraße 7 and the junction with Hauptstraße
• Duration: until 28.10.2022
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Traffic can be driven from federal highway 7 in the direction of Hauptstraße using one-way traffic control. In the direction of Bundesstraße, traffic will be routed via the junction below. Pedestrians can pass the roadworks area safely.

Julius-Schaxel-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 31.12.2022
• Reason: Road expansion incl. pipe laying
• Details: Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely. There will be 3 construction phases. Construction phases 2 + 3 will not take place until 2023.

Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Lane in the direction of Saalbahnhofstraße and adjacent lanes
• Duration: until 29.10.2022
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Traffic will be diverted via the adjacent road network

Kochstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: House number 4 to the junction with Forstweg
• Duration: until 28.10.2022
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Access/exit to the daycare center and day clinic is possible from Westbahnhofstraße

Lessingstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: House number 1-6
• Duration: until 23.12.2022
• Reason: Laying of district heating pipe
• Details: Pedestrians and cyclists can pass the area safely.

Lobeda-Altstadt - Neulobeda - Drackendorf

• Type: Restrictions
• Duration: until approx. 14.10.2022
• Reason: Civil engineering work to lay fiber optic cable

Eastern Löbdergraben

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Location: Height Saalstraße
• Duration: until 31.10.2022
• Reason: Installation of a construction site exit
• Details: Pedestrians can still pass through the area.

Max-Gräfe-Gasse

• Type: Partial closure
• Location: Corner of Kreuzgasse
• Duration: until 31.03.2023
• Reason: Construction site installation for house conversion
• Details: The construction site can always be passed. Pedestrians and cyclists can pass the construction site safely.

Naumburger Straße in the Schützenhofstr. / Altenburger Str. area

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Naumburger Str. / Schützenhofstr./Altenburger Str. intersection area
• Duration: until 17.10.2022
• Reason:Repair of the district heating pipeline for Jena Nord
• Details: Traffic will be diverted via Scharnhorststr. / Camburger Str.

Oberaue

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: From the Saaleeingang Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld to just before the Lichtenhainer Brücke bridge
• Duration: until 31.03.2023
• Reason: Work on the stadium grandstand
• Details: The Lichtenhain Bridge is not affected by the closure. A detour for pedestrians and cyclists is signposted.

Oberaue from the southern access road to the main access road at Stadtrodaer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 31.12.2022
• Reason: Fundamental expansion of the access road, expansion and widening of the main cycle path connection
• Detour: A designated detour route will be set up for cyclists heading into and out of the city. The cycle routes run via Wöllnitzer Straße and Burgauer Weg.
• Restrictions for bathers accessing Südbad/Schleichersee and the beach bar as well as for adjacent sports facility users: The facilities will be accessible from the main stadium access road via a temporary footpath. This footpath can only be used by pedestrians - cyclists must dismount.
  Guests of the Schleichersee and the adjacent sports facilities as well as the traffic school with cars can use the parking lot in the Oberaue directly next to the main access road. This is only not possible when FC Carl Zeiss Jena is playing at home. A planning board will be set up at the main entrance to the Oberaue so that road users are informed.

Thomas-Münzer-Weg

• Type: Complete closure
• Place: House number House number 4
• Duration: until 30.06.2023
• Reason: Construction of a residential building
• Details: The full closure is indicated by means of planning boards from both Jägerbergstraße and Max-Gräfe-Gasse. A wide detour must be taken around the closed area. Pedestrians and cyclists can pass the construction site safely.

Change to the one-way street layout in Unterdorfstraße and Wöllnitzer Oberweg

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Unterdorfstraße 2
• Duration: until 31.12.2022
• Reason: Construction work
• Details: The one-way street layout will be changed in the above-mentioned streets. In Unterdorfstraße, it will then be possible to drive out of the city and in Wöllnitzer Oberweg, it will be possible to drive into the city. Cyclists will be able to ride against the one-way street in Wöllnitzer Oberweg. Signage will be erected at the start of the construction work to raise road users' awareness.

Ziegenhainer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Place: House number House number 7a
• Duration: until 31.12.2022
• Reason: New house construction
• Details: Properties in the direction of Burgweg can be reached via this road. Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely.

To the Ziskauer valley (Lützeroda)

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 21.12.2022
• Reason : Civil engineering works (sewage; drinking water)
• Details: A detour will be signposted on site.

Announcements:

• Napoleon Battle event
  On 15.10.2022 there will be extensive closures in the area of Lützeroda and the surrounding area. Detour will be signposted. If you do not wish to take part in this event, it is recommended that you drive well clear of the area. The regular bus service runs every 2 hours only as far as Cospeda. There will be no shuttle service provided by the organizer.
• Ritzetal / Am Steinborn
  From 17.10.2022 to 28.10.2022 there will be a full closure in the above-mentioned area. The road surface will be renewed during the construction period. The bus will not be able to access the turning point and will travel via Löbichauer Straße and Vor der Gembdenmühle during this time.
• Event 45th Kernberglauf
  The 45th Kernberglauf will take place on 15.10.2022 from 9 am to 3 pm. Apart from a short temporary full closure of Stadtrodaer Straße, there will be no further major traffic restrictions. We wish all runners lots of fun and good weather.
• Full closure of Jägerbergstraße
  From 17.10.2022 to 11.11.2022 there will be a full closure in the above-mentioned area. The road surface will be renewed during the construction period. Heavy goods traffic will be widely diverted via the B7 federal highway. Car traffic will be diverted via Rautal and Closewitz. Both detour routes are signposted.
• Half-sided closure in Schützenhofstraße at Hnr. 48 to the junction with Closewitzer Straße
  From 24.10.2022 to 23.12.2022, a half-sided closure will be carried out in the above-mentioned area. Media will be laid during the construction period. Pedestrians will be guided safely past the construction site.
