Continuation of the Jena Façade Award 2021

16.12.2021

Yesterday, on December 15, 2021, another award was presented as part of the Jena Façade Award 2021:

GB 23 Verwaltungsgesellschaft bR, represented by Mr. Müller and Mr. Thomas, received an award for the new construction of the residential / office buildings Am Alten Güterbahnhof 3 and 5 (planning: Dipl.-Ing. Architect Stephan Sittig, Jena; outdoor facilities: Boock Landschaftsarchitektur). On behalf of the sponsors, Ms. Margul (IBA GmbH), Mr. Fischer (IBA GmbH), Mr. Kühn (HI-Bauprojekt) , Mr. Rabich (Sparkasse Jena Saale Holzland ) and Mr. Neumann (Head of Urban Planning) presented the certificate and the award plaque together with a floral greeting .

Among other things, the jury emphasizedthe high-quality, outstanding craftsmanship of the clinker brick façade with subtle details in the entrance areas and the structuring loggias , which impressed withits clarity . The exterior design builds on the diverse clinker brick façades that also exist in Jena and develops them further in a modern form. The chosen form of the façade also represents a comprehensible reminiscence of the classic station architecture, which is supported by the harmonious design of the outdoor facilities. The project is a successful example of the revitalization of a derelict railroad site. The jury welcomes the creation of a cost-intensive but more durable and sustainable outer skin, which should be an incentive for other projects in the city. The coherent competition entry represents a self-evident urban building block that creates a striking new address for the areas previously located to the rear.
