19.05.2021

Today, Wednesday, the seven-day incidence in Jena is below the threshold of 100 for the fifth working day in a row. Thus, the "federal emergency brake" from the Infection Protection Act expires. With the current Thuringia SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Measures Ordinance, further relaxations are possible in Jena from Friday, May 21, 2021.

"I thank all citizens for the perseverance and discipline of the past weeks and am pleased that we can now all benefit together from the first relaxations and openings," says Mayor Thomas Nitzsche. "Of course, the same still applies: we must not become careless. We want to open in a stable way, a ping-pong of open-close no one can want. Therefore, some basic rules such as keeping our distance, quick tests and also the wearing of the face mask will continue to accompany us for a while."

What rules will apply in Jena from Friday, 21.05.2021

Contact restriction: People of one's own household and up to two other people as well as their associated children up to the age of 14 may meet again. Meetings in fixed care communities are possible.

Exit restrictions are not applicable.

Mask obligation: In public transport, at the hairdresser and at the chiropodist a medical mask is sufficient, for children from 6-14 years an everyday mask. The same continues to apply in shops, service businesses, doctors' surgeries, at religious services and driving schools. Nevertheless, the wearing of an FFP2 mask is recommended for increased protection against infection. JenaBonus-eligible persons can continue to take advantage of the offer to obtain FFP2 masks free of charge.

Retail trade: Retail stores previously affected by closures are allowed to reopen in full - regardless of assortment - and shopping is possible without an appointment. This is subject to a negative rapid antigen test or self-test (on site) and contact tracing details. Children under the age of 6 are not required to provide a negative test result. They are considered tested for the purposes of the Protective Measures Exemption Regulation. The following applies per customer: 10 m2 sales area for the first 800 m2, 20 m2 per customer for 800 m2 and more Wearing a qualified face mask is still mandatory when entering the stores. For privileged retail (food and similar), the previous rules for entry apply.

Outdoor catering may reopen. It is important to make an appointment in advance here. In addition, mouth-to-nose protection must be worn on premises with customer traffic. Prior testing or proof of vaccination/health is not required at this time. Contact details for follow up must be left, for example using the Luca app.

Accommodation: Campsites, holiday homes and holiday apartments are allowed to receive guests again if contact tracing is ensured. Accommodation establishments remain closed for tourist purposes.

Culture: Drive-in theaters, outdoor areas of museums, memorials, castles or other landmarks, and outdoor areas of zoological and botanical gardens may open. Music and youth art schools may open for one-on-one instruction (with contact tracking).

All body-related services - i.e. hairdressing establishments, nail, cosmetic, tattoo, piercing and massage studios, as well as the operation of solariums and their use - are once again permitted. Here the wearing of a medical face mask applies. If this is not possible due to the treatment or for medical reasons, customers must present a self-test, a COVID-19 antigen rapid test (not older than 24 hours) or a PCR test (not older than 48 hours) with a negative result.

A maximum of 35 people are allowed at funerals and civil marriages. Please note the specific number on site (room capacity/hygiene concepts). Further information.
