Corona situation in Jena: 10 new infections

01.11.2021

The Health Service reported 10 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Sunday, October 31.

On Friday, October 29, 50 cases were reported, on Saturday, October 30, 14 infections.

Background to the case history

Causes of infection continue to be in the family, professional and sporting environment. Infections due to visits to events are currently not recorded.

The number of vaccination breakthroughs (infections despite full vaccination protection) is rising continuously. This is very often the case within families in particular. All persons who have already been fully vaccinated for more than 6 months are therefore called upon to refresh their vaccination protection with the so-called booster vaccination. This is possible regardless of age at general practitioners and vaccination centers.

Currently, 8 people from Jena with a positive Covid-19 laboratory result are being treated as inpatients. One person is in intensive care.

4 of the hospitalized persons are over 80, the others between 30 and 50.

Corona cases were reported from the following facilities:

  • Lobdeburg School after-school care center
  • Bummi daycare center
  • Soccer camp for young people
