Corona situation in Jena: 35 new cases

22.10.2021

On Thursday, October 21, the Health Service reported 35 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). A further 16 cases were reported in the past few days.

Jena has thus reached an incidence of over 100 for three days in a row. As the ITS occupancy rate throughout Thuringia has also been above 6.0 for three days, warning level 2 now applies in Jena.

Notes on warning level 2

According to the legal ordinance of the state of Thuringia, the municipalities are obliged to propose and issue further measures to protect against infection. The city's crisis management team is in contact with the state of Thuringia and is calling for standardized regulations for the warning levels throughout the state. There is already a confusing and inconsistent regulatory picture throughout Thuringia, which threatens to become even more pronounced if further measures are taken at warning level 2. The city of Jena has therefore not yet made a decision on further measures; it is dependent on feedback from the state. For the time being, the measures of the current warning level 1 continue to apply.

Information on the infection situation

The causes of infection are becoming increasingly diffuse. While schools were clearly the main point of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in recent weeks, cases are now spreading to all areas of life. Shared leisure and sports activities in particular are becoming more significant for the incidence of infection.

Cases have been reported from these facilities:

  • Angergymnasium
  • IGS
  • Galileo School
  • UniverSaale
  • Daycare center Zwergenhaus
