Corona situation in Jena: 682 new infections over the weekend
Over the weekend, 682 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus were reported to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) by the health department.
Of these, 332 cases were reported on Friday (25.02.), 280 cases on Saturday (26.02.) and 80 cases on Sunday (27.02.).
Background information on the cases
New infections were reported from 20 schools and 14 daycare centers.
The number of new infections continues to rise in the retirement home with an outbreak. A single infection was reported from another retirement home.
Confirmation of infection still only with a PCR test
The Health Service would like to point out that a positive PCR test result is still required to confirm an infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
A rapid test is not sufficient for this - even if it was carried out by a test center.
