Qurantine regulations for proven omicron cases

The federal-state decision last Friday has now been incorporated into the Thuringia containment decree. Thus, the new quarantine rules for proven Omikron cases also apply in Thuringia

If an Omikron case has been detected, contact persons are subject to:

  • a shortened quarantine period of seven days if a rapid PCR or certified antigen test performed on the seventh day is negative.
  • For students and children in child care services, quarantine as a contact person can beterminatedafter only five days by arapid PCR or antigen test (specimen collected no earlier than day five) because they are involved in serial testing strategies.
  • Without testing, quarantine can be terminated after ten days. Boosted contacts and contacts who are both vaccinated andrecovered do not need to be quarantined. Quarantineas a contact person is also waived for those who have been vaccinated twice and those who have recovered, provided that theillness/vaccination occurred less thanthree monthsago.

For persons who have tested positive or have contracted the disease, the health department continues to follow the recommendations of the RKI for discharge management, which does not currently distinguish between regular cases and cases with the Omikron variant. Therefore, it will continue to apply for the time being - until the RKI adjusts the recommendations:

  • homeisolation for14 days
  • prior free testing is not possible.
  • In the case of a mild course, a free test can be performed after 14 days by means of a rapid test, and in the case of a severe course by means of a PCR test - both only if there hasbeen asustainedimprovement in symptoms for at least 48 hours.
