Corona situation picture for Jena: 64 new infections

The Department of Health has reported 64 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Wednesday, 05 January 2022, with a further 50 cases still being processed. 4 further persons have died as a result of corona disease. This involved three subsequent notifications from December. All persons were over 80 years of age. No information is available on the vaccination status.

Background to the cases

Seven pool tests in Jena day-care centres were positive yesterday. The individual results are still pending. Quarantine measures have been ordered for individual groups in the following day-care facilities:

Kita Löbstedter Grashüpfer, Kita Dualingo, Kita Dornröschen.

Currently, 10 cases of the Omikron variant of the coronavirus have been detected. There are further suspected cases.
