Day of urban development in Jena on 13.05.2023

For strong districts, an attractive living environment and a good life in the neighborhood - urban development funding is one of the most important instruments of urban development. On 13.05.2023, events will be held throughout Germany under the motto "Wir im Quartier" (We in the neighborhood) to promote urban development. On this day, cities and municipalities will provide information about their projects, plans and successes - and invite people to get involved in shaping their own living environment.

Jena is taking part for the fifth time and invites you to various events and tours on Saturday, 13.05.2023, from 10:00 am. In Lobeda West, the new youth club "Westside" will present itself with an open day and in Winzerla, guided walks will be offered in the neighborhood. In the city center, the new library and citizen service building can be viewed in advance as part of a guided tour and the German Optical Museum Foundation will present the current project status. In the Ammerbach district, the church "St. Nicolai" and the restoration of the spire will be open to the public.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has unfortunately not been possible to hold any events in recent years.

"I am all the more pleased that we are able to present several projects to citizens for the first time this year. This format gives people the opportunity to gain an insight into the work of urban development and to talk to those responsible for the projects on site," enthuses Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Urban Development and Environment.
