Delegation from the Ukrainian city of Brovary visiting Jena
On Monday evening (5.6.2023) a four-member delegation from the Ukrainian city of Brovary arrives in Yena. The deputy mayor Larysa Vynogradova as well as Oleksandr Reznik (2nd deputy mayor), Olena Krasnyk (3rd deputy mayor) and city councilor Ievgenii Siryk are visiting Jena until Saturday morning (10.6.2023) to meet the mayor, city councilors employees from the city administration and municipal enterprises as well as partners from civil society. In the fall of 2022, the city council decided on a solidarity partnership with the Ukrainian city of Brovary. The further development of this partnership and getting to know each other will be the focus of the meeting in Jena. Following the visit to Jena, the delegation will travel on to the twin city of Erlangen.
In order to build up cooperation structures and to get to know potential project partners from civil society, meetings are planned with the following initiatives:
- Citizens' Foundation Jena e.V.
- Initiative "Ukrainians in Jena
- Association "Ukrainian compatriots in Thuringia e.V.".
- Children's language bridge Jena e.V.
- UmsonstHaus of the MobB e.V.
- Talk with city councilors
- Fan-Projekt Jena e.V. and FCCparadiesCampus (youth performance center)
From the city administration and own enterprises visits of the following ranges are on the program:
- Office for Migration and Integration
- Visit to a shared accommodation facility and discussion with residents
- on the subject of waste management: visit to the recycling center of Kommunalservice Jena
- Jena public transport (the city of Brovary does not operate public transport, everything is organized through private services).
- on the topics of energy, housing and baths: Stadtwerke Jena Group
Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche will meet the delegation for a first exchange on Tuesday, 6.6.2023. An official welcome of the delegation and a ceremony will take place at the beginning of the city council meeting on 7.6.2023 at 5 pm.
