Disposal of Christmas trees

After the holidays, Kommunalservice Jena is once again organizing a special collection for discarded Christmas trees. The collection of stripped trees will take place from 12 to 16.01.2026 as part of the regular organic waste collection.

Christmas trees must be completely stripped and shortened to a maximum length of 1.50 meters. On collection day, they must be placed in a clearly visible location next to the organic waste garbage can by 06:00 at the latest. Care must be taken to ensure that sidewalks, roads or driveways are not obstructed. The collection takes place on the same day that the organic waste is emptied in the respective area. Alternatively, it is possible to hand in decorated Christmas trees at the recycling centers.

The collected trees are then composted.
