Drinking fountain at Engelplatz put into operation
"Water march": fresh water now gushes from the drinking fountain on Engelplatz. Citizens can now get a supply here. Kathleen Lützkendorf, Head of the Department for Social Affairs, Health, Immigration and Climate, and Daniel Knopf, Climate Adaptation Coordinator, jointly put the drinking fountain into operation.
"Extensive samples and analyses were carried out in advance. The water quality that we can enjoy here is very good,"
says Lützkendorf. Water is also already flowing at the push of a button at the drinking fountains on the water axis in Winzerla and at the market. These construction measures were implemented by Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) with the support of the Jena Health Department.
"Drinking fountains are also planned at other locations in Jena: in Sophienstraße, on Wenigenjenaer Ufer, in Karl-Marx-Allee, at Max-Wien-Platz, at Nonnenplan/Holzmarkt and at the Phyletisches Museum,"
says Knopf. The latter is already under construction.
The fountains are being financed by funds from the so-called Climate Pact of the Free State of Thuringia.
