European Mobility Week Has Begun

European Mobility Week will take place across Europe from September 16 to 22, 2026. Jena is once again participating in the week-long event—and will kick things off as early as September 12, 2026, with a diverse program of activities. Under the motto “Mix and Move! – Climate-Friendly Mobility,” the City of Jena, along with associations, initiatives, and businesses, invites the public to events focused on sustainable and climate-friendly mobility.

European Mobility Week also contributes to the implementation of the City of Jena’s Climate Action Plan. This plan includes numerous measures through which Jena aims to achieve its climate protection goals and continue developing the city in a climate-friendly manner. Sustainable mobility plays an important role in this effort.

Diverse Program

One highlight is the series of guided tours focusing on e-car sharing and charging stations. Together with the Jena Climate Protection Agency and teilAuto, interested participants can gain hands-on experience with sustainable mobility. On-site presentations will cover topics such as the use of electric car-sharing, charging electric vehicles, and the continued expansion of these services. The free tours also offer an opportunity to overcome any reservations people may have about electric cars.

In addition, the program features numerous other events. These include a guided tour of the construction site at Paradiesbahnhof, an interactive prevention theater performance on civic courage in public transit, a neighborhood walk through Jena-West, mobility training for people using walkers or canes, and other activities centered on climate-friendly mobility.

Bicycles also play a central role in the program. A bike tour with politicians, Kidical Mass, a women’s bike school, and a self-help workshop invite participants to explore Jena by bike, exchange ideas, or get actively involved.

For people with limited mobility, Radeln ohne Alter Jena e. V. also offers several rickshaw tours. During these tours, participants can experience Jena and its cultural and scenic highlights in a unique way.
