Evening situation from 12.04.2020

Current case numbers

Today's news must begin with some sad news: Another death is linked to a coronavirus infection. On the night of Easter Sunday, an 83-year-old man succumbed to the effects of the lung disease at the university hospital. He had been weakened by previous illnesses and had been in intensive care since 31 March with positive corona findings.

The Jena staff for extraordinary events is deeply moved and sends its sincere condolences and much strength to the family in this difficult time.

There were no new figures for Easter Sunday. Thus, 155 positive cases are still reported in Jena since the beginning of the pandemic, 7 are being treated as in-patients, 3 patients have to be treated in intensive care. 86 are considered to have recovered.

Opened town church is well received

The offer to come to the open town church St. Michael for silent prayers at Easter is well accepted. Four volunteer carers check the minimum distance and the wearing of the mouth and nose covers. One is very happy to be able to offer this possibility in difficult times, the congregation said. Many people draw hope and comfort from it.

Once again an urgent appeal: No fire, no barbecue near the forest

Despite forest fire level 3 and dry meadows, the fire brigade had to go out on missions in the past few days, which had been caused by barbecue fires. A group caught above Wöllnitz poured the glowing charcoal into the forest and fled. This was the reason why the fire could really burn. Luckily, the emergency services were able to prevent something worse.

On Friday evening, observers reported a tongue-in-cheek flame near the Falkenblick am Jenzig. Here, too, the perpetrators fled as the emergency vehicles were feeding.

Occasionally, families were also observed driving their cars into the forest to start the barbecue undisturbed.

Such actions are irresponsible! It is emphasized here once again: Any fire outside barbecue areas in private surroundings is to be avoided!
