Prize for Green Oases in Jena 2020 - application deadline extended due to corona crisis

The city of Jena has awarded the "Prize for Green Oases in Jena" for the first time this year. The prize is a further development of the prize for green façades and roofs. In addition to green facades and roofs, green balconies, front gardens, inner courtyards and fallow land in the city will also be honored for the first time. Both long-term and temporary greenery can be awarded. The prize is worth a total of 2,000 euros and can be split between several winners.

Due to the contact restrictions necessary in view of the corona pandemic and continuing in many areas of public life, the award ceremony cannot take place at the beginning of June as announced, as the "Long Day of Nature" - previously planned as a festive setting for the award ceremony - unfortunately had to be canceled by the organizers, NABU Thuringia and the Thuringia Nature Conservation Foundation.

We have therefore decided to extend the application deadline to 28.08.2020 and, if possible, to hold the award ceremony in September 2020. We would like to expressly encourage all interested parties to take advantage of the extended application deadline and present their "Green Oasis" to us.

We require the following information from applicants:

  • Name and address, e-mail address or telephone number
  • Location and more detailed description of the greenery
  • Several meaningful photos

Applications are open to private individuals, companies, clubs, associations, planning offices and architects who own a greened property and/or have created a project and have been authorized by the owner to take part in the competition.

Please submit your application to the:

Jena City Council

Environmental Protection Department, Lower Nature Conservation Authority
Am Anger 26
07743 Jena

or by e-mail to umweltschutz@jena.de.
