FCC women's team honored with entry in the Golden Book of the City of Jena
The women's team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena signed the Golden Book of the City of Jena yesterday in the presence of Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche and Mayor Christian Gerlitz.
Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche said: "The city of Jena is delighted with the success and is proud of its women's soccer team, which is now back in the 1st Bundesliga. This should be honored with the entry - one of the highest honors that the city has to award. The new stadium also provides the right and appropriate backdrop for the matches in the 1st Bundesliga. I wish the team a great season and keep my fingers crossed that it will be a successful one."
The women's team is playing in the 1st Bundesliga for the second time under the FCC umbrella. Previously, they had already played in the 1st Bundesliga for many years under the USV umbrella. Some of the players from the USV days are still with the team today and bring important experience with them. Together with many new additions, the team wants to successfully compete in the 1st Bundesliga.
"The entry in the Golden Book of the City of Jena should provide a little tailwind," says Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.
