Felling permits for trees at the adult education center reassessed

The felling permit for the trees on the grounds of the adult education center was reassessed: As part of the planned new hotel construction, it was originally planned to remove a chestnut tree, a copper beech, a walnut tree and an oak tree. However, in consultation with the landowner, long-term solutions were found for the chestnut and walnut tree so that these two trees could be retained. The felling permit for the chestnut tree had previously been suspended for the time being due to a nest of a specially protected crow.

However, the felling permit for the oak and the copper beech on the corner of Grietgasse remains in place. The oak tree has been showing cracks since a small local storm. As a result, the tree was immediately shortened by about a third of its crown in order to prevent a possible branch breakage. Unfortunately, the tree is no longer in its original shape and vitality after this necessary pruning. Further damage due to cracking in the main trunk cannot be ruled out either.

The felling of the two trees will take place on 27.02.2025. On this day, the parking lot at the adult education center will be closed.
