Finding spaces for ensembles - Support for Jena's cultural associations

During the cold season, it becomes more difficult for choirs, orchestras and dance ensembles to find suitable rooms for their rehearsals. At the same time, venue providers - be it the Kassablanca or the Sparkassenarena - are currently finding it difficult to fill their rooms and generate income. The challenge now is to find a solution to both problems.

Mayor Christian Gerlitz and JenaKultur have taken this as an opportunity to launch an initiative to support these Jena cultural associations. Applications can be made to finance the rent for rehearsal rooms. These funds then help the event industry. The interim use agency blank acts as a partner, selecting suitable rooms for the respective number of people.

36,000 is available, which is jointly funded by the Department of Urban Development and JenaKultur. Applications for funding should be submitted to Katrin Richter from the cultural funding department. The Culture Committee will decide on applications of €2,000 or more.

Mayor Christian Gerlitz sees the installation of the interim use agency blank as a "stroke of luck". The city can thus do its part to support the approximately 90 choirs. The aim is to create rehearsal facilities that ensure the implementation of infection protection measures.

Jonas Zipf, Head of Jenakultur, hopes that this support will help Jena's associations and event organizers to get through the winter better. This continues to be a major and difficult undertaking.

Katrin Hitziggrad from the interim use agency blank reported that there have already been 12 requests for rooms. The demand varies between 200 and 500 square meters. She is very pleased to be able to protect cultural life in Jena with her work.
