First visit of the mayor of Brovary to Jena
The mayor of the Ukrainian city of Brovary, Igor Sapozhko, has visited Jena for the first time. Together with a small delegation, he toured the city, met for a professional exchange and took part in the second Brovary - Jena networking meeting in the plenary hall of the historic town hall on Monday.
In the fall of 2022, the city council approved a solidarity partnership with the Ukrainian city of Brovary. In March last year, the mayors of Jena and Erlangen and the mayor of Brovary signed the cooperation agreement in an online meeting. Last June, the deputy mayor Larysa Vynogradova and a delegation traveled to Jena for an initial meeting.
During a guided tour, city councillor Bastian Stein introduced the guests to Jena. The professional exchange with Philipp Winkler, management consultant at the Stadtwerke Jena Group, focused on issues relating to energy and housing. Mayor Sapozhko and Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche were able to get to know each other better in a personal meeting.
Finally, Patrick Werner and Florian Lauterbach gave the guests an insight into Jena as a high-tech location in the StadtLab. Today, Wednesday, the delegation will travel on to the twin city of Erlangen.
