Full closure of the Forstweg bridge from 13.01.2025

10.01.2025

As part of the preparations for the new construction of the Forstbrücke bridge, tree felling work will be carried out in the bridge area on 13 and 14 January 2020 from 07:00 to 17:00. During these times, the bridge will be completely closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrians can still cross the bridge with short waiting times. Between 17:00 and 07:00, one side of the bridge will be open to traffic again.

The measure is necessary as the existing bridge is in a poor condition, has reached its standard service life and needs to be adapted accordingly for the planned electrification of the Holzlandbahn from 2027.

Key details of the construction project

  • Tree felling: From 13.01.2025, trees will be felled in the vicinity of the structure with permission in order to make room for the upcoming work. This measure is necessary to clear the construction site. Once the work has been completed, replacement planting will be carried out to restore the natural environment.
  • Bridge construction: The actual construction of the new bridge will begin in May 2025 and will continue intermittently until the end of 2026. During the construction period, there will be restrictions in the access areas to the bridge and on the bridge itself in the area of the Forstweg construction site. Parking in these areas will not be possible during the construction period.
  • Traffic restrictions: Due to the cramped conditions on site, there will always be considerable obstructions and restrictions for vehicle traffic on the access routes.
  • Temporary bridge: A temporary bridge will be erected next to the construction site for pedestrians and cyclists to ensure mobility during the construction phase.
