Future workshop on pandemic preparedness

07.05.2026

As part of the work of the Pandemic Preparedness Strategy Working Group, the City of Jena invites you to a future workshop on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Date: 05.06.2026
Time: 16:00 to 19:00
Location: IGS Grete Unrein, Jena

At the Future Workshop, citizens will come together to develop ideas and suggestions for the future pandemic preparedness of the city of Jena.

The event is designed as a structured workshop: After a brief joint introduction, the participants work in small groups on their experiences from the Corona period using specific tasks and questions and develop proposals for the future based on these. The results are documented and incorporated into further professional work.

Health department head Kathleen Lützkendorf emphasizes:

"For the work of the WG, it was important to us from the outset to get as many perspectives and experiences around one table as possible. I am delighted that the Future Workshop now offers the perfect framework for working together constructively to improve municipal pandemic preparedness."

Registration

Participation is only possible after prior registration. The number of participants is limited to 100 people. The registration period runs from 7 to 29.05.2026.

Background

In the "Pandemic prevention strategy" working group, citizens, employees of the administration, representatives of the city council's political groups and civil society discuss and work closely together. The aim is to bring together different perspectives and a wealth of experience in retrospect of the coronavirus pandemic and to better prepare for similar crises in the future.

In the past year, the areas of health, youth and education, culture and society, business and, most recently, politics and administration have already been addressed in separate themed meetings. Interested citizens were able to find out more about the work of the working group on the participation platform, share personal stories from the coronavirus era and take part in a survey. The future workshop is another important participation format that enables direct exchange on the diverse topics of the working group. The results of the workshop will be incorporated into the working group's report, which is expected to be available in the summer once all formats have been completed.
