Health days of the city administration of Jena
"Stay in balance" - this was the motto of the fourth Health Days held by Jena City Council this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, a wide range of health checks, fitness activities and advice on health awaited the employees of the departments and municipal enterprises at a total of 27 stations in the Volksbad.
Around 350 employees took the opportunity to have their stress levels determined, their blood pressure measured, their sugar and cholesterol levels tested and their vaccination status checked. A body analysis, a vein measurement and an eye and vision test were also possible. There were also tips on back pain and acid-base balance. Various sports activities were on offer and a type consultation was offered. It was also possible to register as a stem cell donor.
Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche: "I am delighted that the Health Days were so well received and that so many colleagues - just like myself - took the opportunity to find out more and get checked out. I can actually say: you leave healthier than when you came in."
Five years of company health management
The health days are part of the Jena City Council's occupational health management program. There are also numerous other events throughout the year. "These include events on nutrition and health courses, for example, as well as medical examinations such as screenings. Special health promotion programs are also offered for the fire department and daycare centers," says Ines Apel, representative for occupational health management.
Occupational health management was set up almost five years ago. The aim is to promote a balance between work and private life for employees and thus reduce the sickness rate in the administration in the medium term.
