Heat Advisory for Jena
According to the German Weather Service in Jena, a heat warning is currently in effect (June 19, 2026). This poses a particular challenge forolder adults, children, and people with pre-existing health conditions.
The Health Department has already directly informed daycare centers and senior care facilities and provided them with specific recommendations. It is strongly advised to take precautions for the hot days ahead. Here are a few tips:
Stay hydrated. Protect yourself. Be vigilant.

Seekshade and sun protection—even on short walks

Support your neighbors, especially older adults living alone

If needed:pay brief visits, offer drinking water, or run errands
Drinking water—available for free throughout the city
Public drinking fountainsare available in the city center to help you cool off:at the Winzerla water feature, on Karl-Marx-Allee in Lobeda, at the Phyletic Museum, at Engelplatz, on the Marktplatz, at Nonnenplan (Holzmarkt), on the green space on Löbstedter Straße, and at Kritzegraben (currently under construction). Additional locations will be added gradually.
