High case numbers force new mode for isolation orders
High case numbers force new mode for isolation orders by Erfurt, Jena and Weimar health authorities
A positive PCR test counts as proof - detection of recovered patients via pharmacies
The number of new coronavirus infections has been rising continuously since mid-January. The staff at the health authorities have always tried to deal with the growing number of cases. Unfortunately, in recent weeks the orders could only be sent with a considerable delay. In addition, the laboratories are becoming increasingly overloaded, which is causing further delays.
In addition to the heavy workload at the public health department, there are now more tasks in connection with the refugees from Ukraine. The cities of Erfurt, Jena and Weimar have therefore decided to suspend the issuing of isolation notices. A positive PCR test result is sufficient to prove an infection to the employer. This procedure is possible according to the Infection Protection Measures Ordinance of the Free State of Thuringia and is now being implemented.
What to do if a coronavirus infection is suspected?
People usually undergo a PCR test if they have a positive rapid antigen test result or if they have shown possible symptoms of COVID-19 disease. Even then, all persons are obliged to isolate themselves directly in accordance with the Thuringian Ordinance (ThürSARS-CoV-2-IfS-MaßnVO). This means that people are not allowed to stay outside their home or accommodation and must avoid direct contact with other people.
What to do if the PCR test result is positive?
If the PCR test is also positive, the obligation to isolate at home remains in place. This lasts for ten days from the day the sample is taken (not from the day the test result is received). After this period has expired, the person can leave home isolation. No further notification to the health department or other authorities is required.
The period of isolation can be shortened early if a test (rapid antigen test or PCR test) taken on the seventh day at the earliest shows a negative result and there were no symptoms for at least 48 hours before the test.
Home isolation ends immediately upon receipt of the negative test result. The result does not have to be sent to the public health department.
Do I need an isolation order to present to my employer?
The isolation rules apply directly on the basis of the Thuringian Corona Protection Ordinance. A separate notice from the public health department is no longer issued. If confirmation of home isolation is required forthe employer, proof of a positive PCR test is sufficient.
Proof of recovery is issued in pharmacies
Proof of recovery from Covid19 disease can be issued in pharmacies with the positive PCR test. The attached QR code can be read electronically - also with the CoronaWarnApp.
