Improvements to the Stadtrodaer Straße construction process

The difficult traffic conditions on Stadtrodaer Straße prompted us to revise the roadworks management and optimize traffic flow.

1. The existing road crossing on the carriageway towards the city will be closed with asphalt by the construction company by 21.11.2019 (Thursday). The second crossing of Stadtrodaer Straße, which is still required, will not take place until 2020.
2. On 22.11.2019 (Friday), all lanes on Stadtrodaer Straße will be open to moving traffic.
3. From 25.11.2019 (Monday) until 09.12.2019, only the right-hand lane in the southbound lane will be closed. All other lanes will remain open. This closure is required to excavate the cable trench on the right-hand side of the carriageway towards the city and to lay the cables.
4. In the period from 09.12.2019 to 20.12.2019, the lanes facing the central reservation will be closed in the area of the southern access road in order to pave the central reservation for the future left-turn lane into the southern access road.
5. In spring 2020, the cable crossing to the south of the southern access road will be constructed for the city-inbound lane. To this end, traffic heading into the city will be routed across the existing central reservation crossing onto the opposite carriageway after the Neuwöllnitz junction and then routed back directly to the southern access road (crossing was constructed between 09.12. and 20.2019).
6. The detour for bicycle traffic via Wöllnitzer Straße remains in place. Due to the improvements in Stadtrodaer Straße, less car traffic is expected on this road.

This solution will allow us to stabilize traffic conditions as quickly as possible and have a clear Stadtrodaer Straße on Friday, 22.11.2019, for the Long Night of Science and the soccer match. Overall, traffic will also run much more smoothly with these traffic routing options.
