New closures / obstructions

Camburger Straße

• Type: Closure on one side
• Duration: 31.03. to 01.04.2026
• Reason: Repair of the road
• Details: Traffic will be regulated by traffic lights. After completion of the work, the 30km/h speed limit will be lifted.

Rudolstädter Straße

• Type: Closure on one side
• Location: At the height of Winzergasse
• Duration: 31.03.2026, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
• Reason: Work on the manhole cover
• Details: A traffic light regulates the traffic.

Wöllnitz pedestrian bridge

• Type: Restrictions and closures
• Location: in the area of Stadtrodaer Straße
• Duration: 30.03. to 12.09.2026
• Reason: Bridge renovation
• Details: The measure will be carried out in 5 construction phases. In the 1st and 2nd sections, the road will be closed between 08:00 and 15:00 to build replacement stops. In the 4th and 5th sections, the bridge will be closed to pedestrian and cycle traffic.
  • 1st construction phase (30.03.2026): Construction of a replacement stop towards the city center
  • 2nd construction phase (31.03.2026): Construction of a replacement stop out of town
  • 3rd construction phase (01.04. to 10.04.2026): Closure of the left-hand lane on both sides for two crossings
  • 4th construction phase (13.04. to 26.06.2026): Closure of the outbound lanes, traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction.
    From this point, the bridge is also closed to pedestrian and cycle traffic.
  • 5th construction phase (27.06. to 20.09.2026): Closure of the inbound lanes, traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction.

Camburger Straße - 30 km/h, all day

On the section between Scharnhorststraße and Camburger Straße 75, the speed limit is currently 30 km/h all day due to road damage. This regulation will remain in place until repairs are completed.

August-Bebel-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: from house number 27a to Botzstraße
• Duration: until 20.11.2026
• Reason: fundamental expansion
• Details: The construction site will be extended to Botzstraße from 16.03.2026. Residents from Wilhelm-Külz-Straße will still be able to access August-Bebel-Straße. A detour is signposted.
  Customers can only reach the Norma supermarket on foot.

Göschwitz station, forecourt

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 30.06.2026
• Reason: Fundamental expansion of the area
• Details: The construction site can be safely passed on foot in the direction of Göschwitz station. A limited number of bicycle parking spaces will be provided opposite the streetcar stop in the green area. Alternatively, bicycles can also be parked in the western area of the station.

Bernhard-Schultze-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 02.10.2026
• Reason: fundamental expansion with pipeline and sewer construction
• Details: The work will be carried out in two construction phases. A detour will be signposted.
  • 1st construction phase: Am Steinborn from Löbichauer Straße to Bernhard-Schultze-Straße
  • 2nd construction phase: Am Steinborn street to Klopfleischstraße

Carl-Zeiss-Platz

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: House numbers 12 to 14
• Duration: until 31.12.2026
• Reason: Renovation and new construction of the German Optical Museum

Cospedaer Grund

• Type: Temporary closures
• Duration: until approx. 30.04.2026
• Reason: Fiber optic expansion
• Details: The adjacent properties are accessible during the entire construction period.

Dornburger Straße

• Type: One-way street regulation
• Location: between Clara-Zetkin-Straße and Scharnhorststraße
• Duration: until 24.04.2026
• Reason: Track work
• Details: The work will be carried out in three construction phases while the streetcar continues to run. Work will begin in the area of Dornburger Straße 36-64, for which the outbound lane from Clara-Zetkin-Straße will have to be closed. Out-of-town traffic will be diverted from Nollendorfer Straße via Camburger Straße. Dornburger Straße will become a one-way street into the city.

Dornburger Straße 6

• Type: Various closures
• Duration: until 31.10.2026
• Reason: New house construction
• Detail: One-way regulation applies in the direction of the city center. The restricted area will be used for construction site equipment and loading/unloading. Out of town, the detour is via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Straße.

Fritz-Reuter-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 21.10.2026
• Reason: Reconstruction of drinking water, mixed water and electrical pipes
• Details: The work will be carried out in two construction phases. A detour will be signposted.
  • 1st construction phase: From Kronfeldstraße to Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg
  • 2nd construction phase: Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg to Tatzendpromenade, start approx. April 2026

Forstweg (bridge)

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between house numbers 14 to 25
• Duration: until 20.12.2026
• Reason: Replacement construction of the bridge
• Details: The road is only accessible from both directions up to the bridge. Depending on the construction work, there may also be parking and stopping restrictions. A temporary pedestrian bridge will be built. The temporary bridge can be used by pedestrians without restriction.

Corridor road

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Naumburger Straße and Maria-Pawlowna-Straße
• Duration: until 10.04.2026
• Reason: Renewal of the asphalt surface
• Details: The closure can be bypassed via the adjacent road network.

Fürstengraben

• Type: Half-sided closure incl. one-way street regulation
• Location: from the Löbdergraben junction to before the Johannisplatz junction
• Duration: until 10.04.2026
• Reason: Road surface renovation in two construction phases
• Details: Fürstengraben will become a one-way street out of town. Inbound traffic will be diverted via Erfurter Straße/ Katharinenstraße/ Lutherstraße/ Ernst-Haeckel-Platz/ Ernst-Haeckel-Straße/ Knebelstraße.
• Information for pedestrians and cyclists: For safety reasons, the construction site cannot be crossed directly during the work. Crossings are possible at both ends of the construction section:
  • To the east via the traffic lights at the Löbdergraben / Saalbahnhofstraße / Lutherplatz junction.
  • To the west via a temporary traffic light.

Track construction Oberaue

• Type: Temporary closure of the track system
• Reason: Track construction work
• Duration: until 31.03.2026, Mondays to Fridays from 21:00 to 04:00 hours
• Details: Tram lines 1, 4 and 5 will be diverted out of town via Kahlaische Straße during this time. The stops Paradiesbahnhof, Jenertal, Sportforum and Sparkassenarena will not be served during this time. Due to the detour, out-of-town trains will depart from the stops up to 5 minutes later.
  • Passengers traveling to Burgau, Lobeda-Ost and Lobeda-West will first take the inbound trains to Paradiesbahnhof and change to the outbound trains at the Paradiesbahnhof-West stop.
  • Passengers from Sparkassenarena use the Burgaupark stop.
  • Inbound streetcar line 1 will run unchanged.
  • Streetcar lines 4 and 5 will run up to 5 minutes later out of town.

• In addition, Jenaer Nahverkehr will be carrying out track construction work at the Holzmarkt triangle on the night of Monday, 16.03.2026 . As a result, streetcar lines 4 and 5 will not be able to reach the Holzmarkt and Ernst-Abbe-Platz stops between 21:00 and 04:00 on the following day. All journeys end and start at the Löbdergraben stop that night.

University Hospital stop (Erlanger Allee)

• Type: Closure of one lane inbound and one lane outbound
• Duration: until 15.06.2026
• Reason: Renovation work at the stop
• Details: The surrounding roads are not affected and can still be used. A replacement stop for the streetcar will be set up in the westbound/townbound direction.

Jenertal stop (Stadtrodaer Straße)

• Type: Closure of one lane
• Duration: until 23.06.2026
• Reason: Renovation work at the bus stop
• Details: The bus stop will be taken out of service during this time. A replacement stop for the streetcar will be set up in the north/city direction. It will still be possible to cross the road on foot.

Humboldstraße (B7)

• Type: Half-sided closure and full closure of the sidewalk
• Location: At house number 8 - 10
• Duration: until 03.04.2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works for the extension of the backbone route (data lines)
• Details: The carriageway will be narrowed to a passage width of 3.50 m. The opposite sidewalk can be used.

Kahlaische Straße (footpath)

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: At house number 1 to 3
• Duration: until 29.05.2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works and sidewalk renovation
• Details: Pedestrians will be diverted via the adjacent road network.

County road (K154) in the direction of Jenalöbnitz

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: County road K154 between Großlöbichau and Jenalöbnitz
• Duration: until 07.04.2026
• Reason: Laying of drinking water pipes
• Details: A detour will be signposted. Once the pipeline construction work has been completed, the Saale-Holzland district will completely renew the road in the affected section. The work is expected to continue until the end of the year.

Lessingstrasse

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Fröbelstieg and Max-Wien-Platz
• Duration: until 31.12.2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works and construction site transportation
• Details: The construction site can be bypassed via Helmholtzweg

Lutherstrasse

• Type: Closure on one side
• Location: At house number 149
• Duration: extended until 24.04.2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works and material deposits
• Details: Out of town, the half-sided closure can be bypassed. Inbound traffic will be diverted via Herderstraße / Sickingenstraße. The closure can also be bypassed via Erfurter Straße.

Naumburger Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Jena town exit to the junction with Carl-Orff-Straße Süd
• 1st construction phase: until 30.11.2026
• Reason: Comprehensive infrastructure measure
• Details: The fundamental expansion of Naumburger Straße is beginning. In addition to the renewal of the road, the extension of the streetcar line to the Himmelreich residential area is planned. At the same time, footpaths and cycle paths as well as central supply and disposal lines will be renewed. The aim of the measure is to secure the infrastructure in the long term and to better connect the Himmelreich and Am Oelste residential areas to the streetcar network. In the period from 02.03. to 30.11.2026, the first construction phase will be a full closure between the southern Carl-Orff-Straße and the end of Jena. There will be a large-scale detour in both directions from Camburg / Rodameuschel via the L1070 to Trotz, from Trotz on the B7 via Bürgel to Jena. The Carl-Orff-Straße Süd junction is open to traffic throughout.

Remderodaer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Münchenrodaer Grund and the railroad bridge
• Duration: until 16.10.2026
• Reason: Replacement of the drinking water pipeline and road surface renovation
• Details: A detour will be signposted.

Sankt-Jakob-Straße

• Type: Complete closure of the southern carriageway
• Location: between Kritzegraben and Spittelplatz
• Duration: until 31.12.2026
• Reason: fundamental expansion of the area
• Details: People on foot or by bike will be diverted via Philosophenweg in the direction of Sankt-Jakob-Straße. The streets Kritzegraben, Am Planetarium and Sophienstraße can be used without restriction.
